DIY Tank Trim Dress Up
One of my favorite features on the GV650 is the look and riding feel of the gas tank. However, I think they overlooked one thing about it -- that homely lower seam that floats over the external frame. I remedied that with a few bucks worth of self-adhesive door edge trim picked up at my local Pep Boys FLAPS (Friendly Local Auto Parts Store). It just pressed in place and couldn't be easier to install (and I did my front fender with it as well -- as I mentioned elsewhere on this site). It is best to warm up the plastic trim with a hair drier before pressing it into place.
I wouldn't be a bit nervous about using it on a bike, I have quite a few feet of it on my VW Thing that has been installed for about 8 years now and my VW is no toy, I drive it every day!
